Please finalise the menu for Tadka as per your palate and compile the shopping list. My recommendation for seven days-

1. Hara dhaniya - 7 small bunches.
2. Pudina - one bunch.
3. Ginger - 250gms.
4. Garlic - one pod.
5. Coconut (giri) - one and dry - one.
6. Lemon - 7.
7. Almond - 28.
8. Walnut - 14.
9. Dates - 21.
10. Magaj + pumpkin seeds - 100gms
11. Sesame seeds - 7 spoons required, 100gms as may be used for fruits and salads too.
12. Ground nut - 500gms.

(THESE ARE JUST A SUGGESTION)

Tadka for 7 Days

Dry Fruits - almonds -28, walnuts-14, raisins70, pumpkin seeds-70gms, flax-seeds70gms, groundnuts-100gms, sesame seeds-7 teaspoons, magaj-7 teaspoons, dry coconut grated-14 spoons.

Chutney - choose your day

These can be the base and add tomato, garlic, ginger, green chillies, fresh lime and blend it. These ingredients are always part of our weekly purchases.

Sprouts

Sprouts add a crunchy flavour to our salad. Best is moong beans sprouts.

So today and tomorrow is the day. If you have whole green moong dal at home do it today or even tomorrow will be fine.

Sprouting is very simple if you don't ask anyone.

1. Take a katori/bowl of moong dal. Roughly one handful is good for a week.
2. On first sight you may feel that one handful is less, this is natural. Don't increase the quantity.
3. Wash it thoroughly and soak it for 24 hours. Change water once after 12 hours.
4. After 24 hours strain the water and store it any container(if perforated available use it) and cover it with a wet cloth.
5. Keep rinsing and straining water as per your convenience every 6-7 hours.

That's it. Within 4-5 days you will have sprouts.

If you smell something odd, rinse and strain is the magic that works.

Three factors responsible for healthy life are physical, chemical and emotional. The three threats (T) to us are also three Ts.

1. Physical Trauma (T1). Accident, natural calamity, heart attack, etc are some common examples of physical trauma.

2. Chemical Toxin (T2). Whenever we see, touch, smell, taste and hear, there is a corresponding chemical reaction in our body. If it produces Toxin in our body then it comes under this category.

3. Emotional Thought (T3). Stress is number one reason for all illness. All thoughts which makes us sad come under this category. We often hear that a person is suffering from so and so disease, but is always smiling and at ease.

So now exercise daily to avoid T1, see, smell, touch, taste and hear healthy to avoid T2 and stay positive to avoid unnecessary T3.


Ideal time to take food is when you feel hungry. Hunger is two types - physiological and psychological. You need to learn the difference by experience.

Sometimes when we are out in the market the mere scent of samosa or jalebi or fast food evokes hunger. Though you may have had a full meal before leaving your home. The mere sight of food on TV also gives rise to hunger. This is psychological hunger. Basically the thought evoked due to perception by any of our five senses evokes such hunger.

Now recall a time you were travelling by road or train or by air. The circumstances did not allow you to eat something worthwhile and the first opportunity that you got, you had your meal. This opportunity could be an unhygienic dhaba, or an expensive eatery at the airport. You just ate what was required to satiate your hunger and the beauty is that you still nostalgically savour that taste till date. This is physiological hunger.

Remember food is not the source of energy, sleep is what recharges our body vitality. Food builds muscles, blood, organs and each cell of our body.

Once we sleep at night and wake up in the morning, we have fasted during this period because one cannot drink or eat while sleeping. During sleep the food is digested and early morning the body is ready to eject the byproduct toxins from the body. This elimination of toxin is by air(morning walk or exercise), liquid (urine) and solid (stool). Coughing, sneezing, sweating is also a way of toxin elimination.

So we wake up in the morning fully charged and body is busy in elimination of toxins. To assist the body in this process of elimination green vegetables or their juice is the best to have first thing in the morning. Imagine the harm we do by drinking tea/coffee. The body's energy is diverted into digestion mode and the elimination of toxins suffer.

Since sleep was a natural fast that is why the first meal is called breakfast - breaking the fast. Ideally delay this breaking of fast as much as you can and one must have fruits only for breakfast.

It takes an average 2 to 3 hours to digest fruits. So ideally next meal/snacks should be 3 to 4 hours after breakfast only on feeling hungry. This principle will also govern subsequent meals/snacks till last meal of the day.

Every time you eat anything the body is put into digestion mode. Everyday we consume 75% of our energy only in food digestion. The rest 25% is what is used for running, walking, commuting to office, working, etc. So if one reduces the number of meals, the vitality is conserved and this is what makes us feel energetic.

You have to now balance these number of meals as per your daily routine.

We all know that green leafy vegetables are a great source of iron.

1. Always mix lemon juice with green leafy vegetables, coriander fresh, mint, salad leaves to increase iron absorption.

2. When having them raw, cut small strips or into small pieces and let them rest for five minutes. This increases the nutrients absorption.


One must incorporate these spices in daily meal. The list is endless and I have mentioned only the common ones.

1. Cinnamon - dal chini.
2. Black pepper - kaali mirch.
3. Clove - laung.
4. Green cardamom - hari elaichi.
5. Rosemary.
6. Oregano.
7. Ajwain/carom seeds.
8. Saunf/fennel seeds.
9. Rye/mustard seeds.
10. Dry mango powder.
11. Dry ginger powder.

Simple Cucumber, Capsicum and Tomato salad to go with coconut dip.

Just cut long julliene of cucumber and capsicum. Arrange them to the side of the bowl. Cut tomato into eight straight cuts and arrange in centre. The capsicum top may be placed on top with a tomato piece.

Take a one litre glass jug. Cut juliennes of beetroot, add two spoons of crushed black mustard seeds, one spoon crushed fennel seeds, one and half teaspoons of black salt. Put all in the jug and fill it with water. Cover the jug with muslin cloth and keep this jug near a window where there is some sunshine.

Stir the mixture every 24 hours with a wooden spatula. In three days you will have your probiotic drink and pickled beets.

Even carrots may be added to this.

I was reading an article and came across a beautiful reasoning of illness. The logic is what Nature Care teaches us.

All illness, symptoms and diseases are an intelligent manifestation of the super fine machinery called our body. They can never be corrected or cured by chemicals (medication) because it will only aggravate the root cause or functioning of our body.

The only cure is to change the input to this factory called body. The more we eat quality (Natural whole food) food there are more chances of faster recovery. This is so simple to understand. All those bad food cravings, bad habits and love for processed food is actually slow poisoning and suicidal.

The study in the article was about type 2 diabetes. It takes a normal body about 10-15 years of very bad lifestyle for type 2 diabetes to manifest. This sounds so logical because now parents with an average age of 40 years having teenage children are diabetic and their children are obese. Diabetes in such children is only a few months away to manifest.

So it's not about change of lifestyle of diabetic parents alone but the change must be for the whole family. Burgers, pizzas, momos, chips and cheese are not the sign of high standard of living but sign of one's inflated ego which has manifested due to the bad days in our childhood.

We still have time to correct it or we will be the generation who will be visiting hospitals daily to look upon our parents in old age and also our sick children.

It happened an year back. She was just sixteen. While going round the corridor of a hospital she came across warning signals in respect of cancer.''If you see a lump or an unnatural growth anywhere in the body do not neglect. It may be cancer,approach a doctor. Your life may be saved''. She became worried because she did neglect something. There was[there is a name now] a hard tumorous growth on her left breast ''is it cancerous? o! God''. She thought she disclosed the fact to her mother without wasting any time a lady doctor was consulted. The lurking fear was confirmed. ''Malignant tumor--size of an orange,referred to the Medical College Hospital at the state capital''.
Fear clamped down the whole family. Blood disappeared from the girl's face. The mother,the father and brother all were in a dilemma. They were hinted that removal of the offending tumor and probably the whole breast was the only solution. One can imagine the sad plight of the girl. Arrangement were made to go to the medical college hospital. The girl out of anxiety and fear suggested ''Mummy, why not try Nature-Cure which our aunt knows''. She was snubbed immediately by the remark that Nature-Cure is good only for stomach ailments or such. Fortunately the said''aunt'' turned up by accident to the house. When she was apprised of the problem she too was taken aback. When she approached me for the solution I said that Nature-cure is always good. A fair trial could be given before presenting her to the surgeon.
After careful inspection of the patient I said ''It may not be malignant, At such age I doubt it'. A hundred per cent raw diet was prescribed. Milk and milk product and fish, fowl and flesh were to be completely excluded.
6 a.m 5 ounces of ashgourd juice [banana pith juice if available] plus 20 leaves of Manithakkali [Makoa] or 20 leaves of bilva.
8-30 p.m coconut water plus 1 small banana
12-30 p.m. banana plus raw coconut plus dates
5-30 p.m. as 6 a.m.
8-30 p.m. A salad of carrot, tomato, cucumber, tender lady's finger, coconut scrapings and coriander[dhaniya] leaves.

The 12-30 noon and 8-30 p.m. diet could be exchanged. No salt, no sugar. Daily two spinal bath of 25 minutes duration and a sun bat for 20 minutes either before 9 a.m. or after 4-30 p.m. She was to go on an approach to a fast on the tender coconut water only on two days in a week. The parents were not sure whether the thing would work. After 15 days she was again taken to the same lady doctor.

When the doctor saw the mother [her last mate] and the girl, She became furious and scolded the mother ''what have you done? Her place is in the Medical College Hospital. You are playing with the life. of the child''. The mother replied ''We are trying Nature-Cure''. ''There are simply no other methods. I have not heard of anything. Anyway let me have a look, what your Nature-Cure has done'', the doctor replied. The girl was examined again. The doctor was dumbfounded. Nearly 50% of the tumor had become soft, a fact the doctor could not swallow[the truth]. Disregarding a number of patients waiting in Q the lady doctor heard patiently the whole procedure of treatment followed. At last she declared,'' I don't know anything about Nature-Cure in Medical College Hospital. She will recover with the present treatment''.


It's like the atmosphere that envelops our planet earth. It is one. There is a famous pot example in Vedas. Imagine an empty earthen pot. There is air inside the pot. Now the same atmospheric air appears to be trapped inside the pot, however if this pot breaks then the air inside pot still remains part of the atmosphere.

Similarly all living beings are like earthen pot and one with Supreme Consciousness. When one dies this Supreme Consciousness remains and the body goes back to air, water and earth from where it came.

When someone dies in our neighborhood there is a grief stricken family. At the same time there is also a new baby born in the neighborhood where a family is rejoicing.

So if we have been joined in this group as one, there is a clear possibility that sometime, maybe hundreds of thousands of years ago we all lived in a one neighborhood.

How long to Soak Seeds.

Hard variety like almonds and walnuts 10-12 hours, soft variety like cashews and pumpkin seeds 4-5 hours.

Ideally soak hard variety overnight. If not soaked yesterday roast them for today's use. This is quick fix and not a healthy practice.

Why to Soak Seeds

Every seed has an acidic covering, which is it's natural protection against ants and prey. When we soak seeds, the moisture makes the seed to prepare for germination and thereby converts the acidic covering into alkaline.

Scientifically the outer covering is fatty omega 6 and on soaking converts to fatty omega 3.

What is one of the common cause for the following:

1. Obesity.
2. Hypertension.
3. Type 2 Diabetes.
4. High cholesterol.
5. Rheumatoid Arthritis.
6. PCOS.
7. Prostate problems.
8. Fibroids formation.
9. Skin tags.
10. Waist more than 40 inches in men and more than 35 in women.
11. BMI more than 30.


The answer is - Insulin Resistance. This is the body's response to our bad lifestyle. This change makes body to take care of excess food or bad food. The place in the body that is affected becomes the disease.

This auto immune behaviour snowballs into the rest. It starts with disturbed hormonal balance and manifests in all those diseases that I mentioned. Each body is different and thus the disease is also different in every individual with the cause remaining one - Insulin Resistance. It takes 10 to 20 years of Insulin Resistance for a disease to manifest. So you see it is as difficult as cancer to notice it early.

It is a condition characterized by impaired biological responses to insulin. Insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas, regulates blood glucose levels by promoting the movement of glucose into cells for energy production or into the liver and fat cells for energy storage. 

Simple solution is raw food diet.

What Insulin Is & Why It Matters

Insulin is a hormone that is secreted by the pancreas. When you eat a meal, your blood glucose (sugar) rises after you digest the food. Insulin goes into action, binding with your cells in order to store the glucose either in muscle as glycogen (the energy source for the muscle) or as fat. If you are healthy, the body “prefers” to replenish glycogen first, only storing excess glucose as fat if glycogen stores are topped off.

When you develop insulin resistance, the cells aren’t readily binding to insulin. The body has to pump out more insulin to get the high blood glucose that’s circulating out of the blood and where it needs to be. High insulin increases fat storage, which is one reason that high insulin levels are associated with obesity.

Why does Insulin Resistance develops.

If you watch your daily diet, every time you eat carbs, there is Insulin secretion. What all do we eat since morning for this action.

1. Tea/coffee with refined sugar and biscuits early morning.
2. Breakfast. Bread/toast/pao, butter, jam, parantha, puri, potatoes fried, juice canned or packet, poha, upma, dosa, idli, vada, uthapam, milk, dalia, etc.
3. Snacks. Pakoras, samosa, kachori, haldi ram products, tea with sugar and milk, etc.
4. Lunch. Rice and wheat roti.
5. Snacks. Same as mid morning.
6. Dinner. Rice, wheat roti, desert, icecream, milk, etc.

If you calculate the total carbs and corresponding sugar intake daily, you will realise that we at an average are eating 40 spoons of sugar. Our body can take only 5 gms of sugar daily.

This leads to Insulin Resistance in a period of 10 to 20 years. This time differs from person to person as per individual's metabolism.

Now just transpose this time period in your family, if any one in your family is suffering from any one of the diseases that I mentioned earlier.

If one generation is battling with Rheumatoid Arthritis, there will be a diabetic or hypertension suffering person in second generation. The third generation will be battling obesity or PCOS or fibroids or prostrate issues. This is because of overlapping of bad choice of food amongst the generations for 10 to 20 years.

Thus if you are suffering from any one of disease that I mentioned, there is a need to change the lifestyle of the entire family.

Now do you know chronic/genetic is a term coined by the so called intelligent doctors, but you have the control. If you are diabetic or hypertension, it is important to get Insulin Sensitivity test done for your children.

We as parents need to revisit the definition of AFFECTION.

Affection is not cheese, burgers, pizzas and chicken wings. Limit your visits to McDonald, Domino and  KFC. Subways are famous for notoriety, pick your choice.

Myth 1: Lycopene Is What Makes Tomato Healthy
Although lycopene is thought to be responsible for tomato benefits, recent research showed that lycopene supplements might not be so safe during pregnancy. Moreover, according to recent scientific studies lycopene can aggravate the symptoms of prostate cancer and it should be consumed cautiously in patients who suffer from this disease. Lycopene may also increase the risk of bleeding and should be avoided by people with bleeding disorders.

Myth 2: Tomato Is Good for Patients With Heart Disease
Dr. Naram highly recommends you to avoid acidic food like a tomato. Due to their highly acidic nature, tomatoes can make the stomach produce excessive gastric acid (mainly responsible for food breakdown). After increasing the volume of acid, it is forced to flow up the esophagus, causing the symptoms. Even cooked tomatoes are not very helpful.

Myth 3: Tomatoes Do Not Cause Allergies and Infections
According to recent Polish studies, tomatoes contain a compound called histamine that is responsible for certain allergic reactions. It is proved that tomato can be the main reason for various illnesses such as hives, skin rashes, eczema, coughing, sneezing and an itching sensation in the throat.

Myth 4: Tomatoes Help with Kidney Problems
A report made by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services states that individuals who suffer from advanced chronic kidney disease ought to limit their intake of potassium, a mineral tomatoes are very rich in. High level of potassium in the blood which is considered to be the leading cause of kidney disease should be reduced by avoiding tomatoes or anything made of tomatoes.

Myth 5: Diarrhea is Not Caused by Tomatoes
As per a report published by Longwood University, tomatoes are greasy, acidic vegetables, and you are strongly advised to avoid them during diarrhea. The report says tomatoes can also be a source of an organism called Salmonella that is the primary cause of diarrhea.
The word "Colon Cleanse" evokes very difficult feeling. One wants to get rid of toxins from Colon and also do it only if convenient.

Since we are already on fourth day of raw food, our Colon is already prepared to expel the toxins. This simple drink first thing in the morning will help it further. Ideally have it for next 30 days or as long as you can.

Ingredients:
– Cup of water
– 1 tbsp of organic honey
– 1 tbsp of Chia
– 1 tbsp of flax seed
– 1 apple

Instructions

Place all the ingredients in a blender and mix well until the chia seeds have started expanding.

Rest it for 15 minutes to allow chia seeds to expand or you may soak them a day prior.

Consume the resulting beverage on an empty stomach and get rid of the toxic waste.

The acidity in our body can be harmful and lemon water can help reduce this. Though lemon has citric acid, the nutrients and minerals in it are alkaline in nature. Citric acid is not a strong acid and so, is easily removed from our bodies by elimination processes like perspiration. Lemon, however, stimulates the formation of calcium carbonate that neutralises other strong acids in the body. This is helpful, especially if your diet is heavy in proteins like meat and cheese. Experts say lemon can help change the pH balance of the blood and can also help in dealing with urinary tract infections.

Strengthens your immune system
All citrus foods are a storehouse of vitamin C. This vitamin is known to fight colds and is good for your immune system. Lemons also have potassium, which stimulates brain and nerve function and controls blood pressure.

Clears and freshens your skin
Experts say that vitamin C is great for youthful skin, because it helps in the production of collagen. Its antioxidants revive dull skin and keep it healthy. Warm lemon water removes toxins from the blood stream. Also, diluted lemon juice, when applied to blemishes, can actually help lighten them.

Battles bad breath
Lemon juice battles bad breath by keeping bacteria away.

Aids in weight loss
Lemon juice in the morning fights food craving. Also, it has been found earlier that people who maintain an alkaline diet tend to lose weight more quickly than others.

Do not overdo the lemon bit
Just because one lemon helped you lose two kilos, squeezing four in your juice will not help you lose eight! Lemon has corrosive properties too and your tooth enamel may suffer.

Note to remember
Adding a little honey to your lemon juice makes it more palatable and also battles phlegm and helps rid your body of mucous.

Use bottled lemon juice. Only the natural lemon is beneficial.

Rinse your mouth with plain water after you drink lemon juice

Once desire is out of scene, life is always disciplined.

You see the rest of the nature, they wake up with sun, they go to bed with the sun, they eat when they are hungry and drink when thirsty. It is a life of automatic discipline.

Discipline is as natural as  love. In both, desire destroys the situation.

Take the example of food habits - vegan, vegetarian, non-vegetarian, egg eater, fruitarian, jain food, white meat, red meat, etc. Food choice and naturalness are opposed to each other. Food choice arises out of a desire to please oneself and others, this desire to please arises out of selfishness. . . . . . and if there is no desire, there is no selfishness.

NO SELFISHNESS is NO DESIRE TO PLEASE,
NO DESIRE TO PLEASE IS NATURAL LIFE.

Just eat natural food. This comprises of fruits, vegetables and dry fruits.
