For all people including diabetics this is one of the suggested holistic routine.

1. Oil pulling and start the day with greens.
2. Exercise for half an hour.
3. Fruits for breakfast.
4. Snacks - Four almonds, two walnuts, three dates, 20-25 raisins and handful of groundnuts.
5. Lunch - Salads, one bowl dal, one bowl vegetables, one bowl rice and two rotis.
6. Snacks - Puffed rice with onions Tomatoes green chillies and chat masala.
7.Dinner - same as lunch.

Quantity may be more in the beginning to satiate, but slowly will reduce over a period of three months.

Fasting Once a week go on only fruits.

Meditation twenty minutes once a day.

Sleep After dinner be awake for two hours before going to sleep.

Drink 2-2.5 litres of water daily. Multiply your weight by 0.03 and you get the ideal water requirement per day in litres.

Donate as per your wish to the needy. Even ₹10 if you give, give it to someone you don't know. Gifts to Parents, spouse, children, maids and friends is not charity. Give it to someone whom you don't know and will never meet him/her again, only then it's charity.

I sometimes feel that Diabetes is a spiritual disorder.

You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul.
Swami Vivekananda

In diabetes each cell wants more and more fats, though fully filled with fat. So unless one reduce eating  and starts exercising to burn fats, the psyche of each cell remains of only accumulating fats.

The moment one changes lifestyle and starts exercising the psyche of each cell changes from accumulating to giving.

In spiritual world happiness too is only in giving. So if you start giving happiness, start caring for others, love your surrounding and always help others, you may teach each cell of your body to give fats instead of accumulating. This will mark the beginning of diabetes reversal.

Have you read about Autophagy. Autophagy is auto immune body function wherein the body converts the unwanted (cancer) cells and dead cells into food when we fast. The 2016 medicine Nobel prize went to a Japanese scientist who discovered this phenomena scientifically.

This same practice is also available in our ancient scriptures. Rishi Patanjali advocates complete fasts once in a fortnight for vegetarians and 30 days fast once in a year for meat eaters.

Why fast on Ekadasi. What is the significance of Ekadasi.

Ekadasi is a Sanskrit word meaning Eleventh - Ek plus Dhus. Ekadasi is 11th day in a lunar cycle.

Lunar month consists of two cycles of 15 days each between Full moon and New Moon days. Hence there are two Ekadasi in a month.

The gravitational pull or push of moon on Earth starts manifesting from 11th day of this 15 day cycle. This gravitational manifestation of moon results in high tide or low tide.

The Almighty creator is a simple man who with one simple algorithm designed this universe. Earth consists of 72℅ water, 12℅ Earth, 6 ℅ Air,  3℅ Heat or Temperature and 7℅ Vaccum or Akasha. With the same algorithm he made human beings.

If the moon's gravitational pull can cause high tide and low tide in 72℅ mass of water, imagine the outcome of similar manifestation in our body.

Open a notebook and note the lunar day and your mood on that day. Do it for one month and you could be your own astrologer.

Ekadasi and food habit.

The gravitational pull or push is zero on seventh day and starts building on eight day onwards till full moon day or new moon day.

My home menu for cereals like rajma, chana, arhar, basin curry/kadhi or soyabean is only made  after new moon day or full moon day till seventh day of lunar cycle. These grains require lot of water to soak first and then to cook too.

For days from 8th to new moon or full moon light dals which cook easily are made like moong. From Ekadasi to new/full moon grains are avoided. Sabudana, Sama ke chawal, boiled/steamed vegetables, less spicy, quinoa, Amaranth, brown rice and such food which cooks fast are prepared.

The simple idea is to avoid grain as it soaks up lots of water and with the pull/push of moon's gravitational force these grains create effects on body. The first sign of such effects are mood swings. Physiological changes also takes place.

Be with the nature, avoid foods that retain lot of water from Ekadasi to 15th day.
Body weight doesn't grow all of a sudden. Ekadasi is an easy way to keep it in check. It also acts as a reminder, constant one every 15 days. The detoxification happens every fortnight. I found it a healthy practice. If you are a spiritual seeker, Ekadasi is the day to devote in prayers.

Fasting
As per old Indian scriptures fasting has always been associated with devotion and religious beliefs. I do not believe in any religion oriented fasting.

I started fasting once in a fortnight only after learning about Autophagy. During fastings the body converts the unwanted protein (like cancerous cells) into food for body. In a way this is like getting car serviced after a certain mileage or time.

I have been observing fasts for 36 hours every fortnight for last five months.

I recommend members to gain as much knowledge as possible about Autophagy first. Secondly speak to grand parents and parents on fasting. They haven't been able to pass on this heritage to us due to our work and breaking away from joint family system.

Caution
Do not start fasting immediately. One needs to first get normal blood sugar readings without medication for about three months.
Fasting is of five types:
1. Not eating anything and not drinking even water.
2. Drinking only water.
3. Drinking water and fruit juices.
4. Drinking water and eating fruits only.
5. Drinking water, eating fruits and vegetables and nuts. Not eating any grain.

Yesterday was new moon day, today is first day of lunar cycle. Dear home makers, plan spicy rajma, handi arhar, urad dal makhane wali, Punjabi chole, masaledaar chana, dried peas potato, Chettinad lobia or any dal which requires lot of time and water for preparation in next week.
After having binged for a week on your favourite heavy dals till 03 Feb 17, start with lighter dals like moong and masoor from 04 Feb 17 till 10 Feb 17 (Full moon day). In this week include grains which cook fast. Sabudana, Sama ke chawal (Used during fasts), kattu, Amaranth, singhara, boiled vegetables, boiled potatoes, roasted peanuts and sesame, etc. The eleventh day is on 07 Feb 17, go on a fruits or juice fast on this day.

Ekadashi Significance

The gravitational pull of Sun and moon on Earth is maximum on full moon and new moon day. On the seventh day of lunar cycle it is minimum.

This force is responsible for tides in the ocean. Our planet is 70% water and so is our body 70% water. Similar forces act on our body too.
From 8th day of lunar cycle to full moon or new moon this force starts increasing. Hence in our ancient scriptures the 11th day which is known as Ekadashi has been practiced as a fasting day and the emphasis has been to avoid grains. Grains require more water to grow, more to cook and more to digest, thus the significance of not having grains.

Mood swings.
This is the reason that lunar cycle is often associated with mood swings. If one notes down the everyday mood situation for thirty days - that is one complete lunar cycle, one may even be able to control mental health.

Advantage of Ekadashi Fast.
Since we do not eat grains on this day the digestion is faster and the gravitational pull assists in toxin elimination resulting in feel good factor.

Just go through the articles and try to discover science. Please note that this is not a religious update.

Eating an early dinner before sunset can offer several advantages for your health and well-being. Here are some potential benefits:

Improved Digestion:

Eating early allows your body to digest food more effectively. As the evening progresses, your metabolism tends to slow down, so having dinner earlier ensures that your body has enough time to process the food before you go to bed. This can reduce the likelihood of indigestion and acid reflux.

Better Sleep Quality:

Going to bed on a full stomach can interfere with sleep. Eating early allows your body to partially digest the food before bedtime, reducing the chances of discomfort and indigestion that might disrupt your sleep.

Weight Management:

Eating earlier in the evening may be beneficial for weight management. Late-night eating has been associated with weight gain, as the body's metabolic rate tends to be lower during the nighttime hours. Consuming calories earlier in the day gives your body more time to burn them off.

Balanced Blood Sugar Levels:

Eating early can help regulate blood sugar levels. A balanced and timely meal can prevent blood sugar spikes and crashes, promoting stable energy levels throughout the evening and night.

Increased Nutrient Absorption:

Consuming a well-balanced meal earlier in the evening ensures that your body has enough time to absorb and utilize the nutrients. This can contribute to better overall health and nourishment.

Supports Circadian Rhythms:

Eating in sync with your body's natural circadian rhythms, which are influenced by the rising and setting of the sun, may have positive effects on various physiological processes. Aligning meals with daylight hours is thought to be more in tune with our biological clock.

Reduced Evening Snacking:

Eating an early dinner may reduce the temptation to snack on unhealthy foods later in the evening. This can be especially beneficial for those trying to manage their calorie intake and make healthier food choices.

Improved Heart Health:

Some studies suggest that eating meals earlier in the day may have cardiovascular benefits. Late-night eating has been associated with adverse effects on heart health, so an early dinner may contribute to a healthier cardiovascular system.

It's important to note that individual preferences and lifestyle factors may influence the suitability of early dinners for everyone. Additionally, the key is not just the timing of your last meal but also the overall quality and composition of your diet. Always consider personal health conditions and consult with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian for personalized advice.

Vision Statement 2024

Our vision is holistic well-being:

prioritising mental health,

embracing sustainable physical habits,

and fostering spiritual growth.

As we stand on the threshold of the year 2024, it is a moment to reflect on the facets that constitute a well-rounded and fulfilling life. Wishing a Happy New Year is often a customary expression, but delving deeper into the intricacies of what it means to be truly happy encompasses not only the passing of time but a holistic well-being that encompasses mental, physical, and spiritual dimensions.

Mental health, the cornerstone of a balanced life, is a realm often overlooked in conventional New Year's wishes. The past few years have accentuated the importance of mental well-being, with a growing acknowledgment of the impact of stress, anxiety, and depression on individuals. As we extend our wishes for the upcoming year, let it be a pledge to prioritize mental health. In 2024, may we find solace in self-care, destigmatize seeking help, and foster environments that nurture emotional resilience.

Physical health is the vessel through which we experience life's myriad wonders. Wishing for a healthy new year involves not only the absence of illness but the pursuit of vitality and vigor. In the coming year, let us celebrate movement, nourishment, and rest. May our resolutions transcend fleeting fads and embrace sustainable habits that fortify our bodies, recognizing that a resilient physical foundation underpins our ability to navigate the challenges and joys of life.

The spiritual dimension, often intertwined with one's sense of purpose and connection to the broader universe, is a realm where diverse beliefs converge. Irrespective of individual faiths or philosophies, the aspiration for a spiritually enriching year is universal. May 2024 be a journey toward understanding, compassion, and interconnectedness. Let our paths be illuminated by moments of transcendence, whether found in nature, relationships, or moments of introspection.

As we collectively usher in the new year, let our wishes extend beyond personal spheres to encompass the global community. A healthy world is one where empathy bridges divides, where collective efforts address pressing challenges, and where sustainability guides our actions. In wishing for a prosperous 2024, may it be a year marked by unity, compassion, and a shared commitment to the well-being of our planet and its inhabitants.

In the canvas of time, each new year is a blank page awaiting the strokes of our endeavors, resolutions, and aspirations. Beyond the ticking of the clock, let 2024 be a tapestry woven with threads of personal growth, resilience, and kindness. May it be a year where the echoes of laughter drown out the cacophony of discord, and where the pursuit of happiness intertwines with the pursuit of a better, more harmonious world.

As we bid farewell to the old and embrace the new, let our wishes for a Happy New Year extend far beyond the temporal confines of the occasion. May they echo in the corridors of our minds, resonate in the beats of our hearts, and radiate through the essence of our being, fostering a year that is mentally, physically, and spiritually rich for all.

The component affected is AIR so the precaution has to be air centric.

1. Home - Best way to purify air in home (maximum stay) is by keeping potted plants indoors during day. In the evening smoke the bedrooms with bay leaves.

2. Food - All green leafy vegetables and the green vegetables that grow above ground are AIR food. So these must be included in daily diet.

3. Exercise - Only indoors deep breathing or yoga may be done. Aerobics in Gym.

4. Sunlight - The importance of sun bathing goes higher in such circumstances. Ensure minimum one hour in sun daily.

5. Water - Since toxin accumulation will be more in our body it is imperative to drink adequate water to accelerate toxin elimination. Add lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to water.

Today's recipe is curd. We are so fond of raita that sometimes it is difficult to get this dairy product out of our diet. It's the tangy taste with onions, tomatoes, chillies and fresh coriander in curd that's so pleasing. Try this.

Take 5-6 spoons of grated coconut, add one lemon juice, one teaspoon dry mango powder. Blend it with some water, your curd is ready. Add onion, tomato, green chilli, roasted cumin powder, sea salt or rock salt to taste. Instant raita is ready. Dress it up with fresh pomegranate seeds and you get a visual treat. Add more lemon juice to suit your tangy palate.
